October, some of the best weather we have had this year, lots of dry crispy days and even better clear stunning nights. The northern lights have been amazing so far this month, I had guests in the cottage watching in bed through the velux window 2 weeks ago, The clear skies mean you can see the milky way over head and thousands of stars and plannets, looking through the telescope provided in the cottage you can clearly see the crators on the moon.anyone interested in the unniverse and what it has to offer then a week in Kelpie would be the perfect holiday.
The scenery is outstanding this time of year, all the bracken has turned golden, the heather is still showing purlpe amongst the autumn colours, just beautiful. Last night I was fortunate to see the barn owl at Hamera lodge sititng on a fence post 3 metres from my car lights.. what a treat, bird life at this time of year is at its best, the eagles aren't shy,and can be seen flying over the cottage most days and so many different types of birds of prey, every time you look over to the hill.you see something else.
Photographers and artisits are spoilt for choice as there is a photo around every corner. The views are stunning with all these autumn colours. It really is a beautiful time to visit the Isle of Skye
Oh well back to the kitchen sink I am washing my sheep fleeces at the moment, such good drying, Ive been dyeing all my own wool this year and at last I can make the colours that I see outside my front door, then I make my felted pictures and make up my needle felting kits so I can share this beautiful craft with others
