We have had the driest summer on record in 2012 and so far the winter has been very kind too, The scenery is amazing with all the autumn colours, the roads are quiet and the wildlife is at its best. You have far more chance of seeing the otters and foxes, deer and eagles during the winter months than you do in august. The cottage is very cosy in winter lovely to come back too after a brisk walk along the cliff tops. The northern lights are expected to be at their best this winter unfortunetly I can't guarantee you will see them in a perticular week but this is the best time of year. Waterstein is a brilliant view point for them, you can stand at the cottage door and have a birds eye view, don't forget we have no light pollution here and on a clear night you canuse the telescope provided in the cottage to see the creaters on the moon, watch the satalites move over the milky way, the night skies are awsome here. Winter breaks are a great way of re-charging the batteries. My lambing starts on the 17th of march 2013 and I still have 1 week left where you can come and see the lambs being born in the shed day and night, a wonderful experience for anyone to  see. The stoats are happily going about their business I often watch them in the gardens, they nest in the hay stack in the shed and usually appear with their babies around march, very playful little creatures. No-matter what time of the year theres always plenty to see. and I look foward to meeting you in 2013
