Local Restaurants and cafes
In the last year we have 3 new places to eat out, In Glendale we have 2 lovely cafes, one in Glendale and the other in Holmisdale, details are in the cottage, both sell local food all day. In Dunvegan the waterside cafe has re-opened offering a wide choice of home baked meals all day and in the evenings, all worthy of a visit.
The Three Chimneys
Situated in Colbost, (only 6 miles away from the cottage) is the famous Three Chimneys Restaurant.
Reputed to be the second best restaurant in Scotland. It is essential to book this award-winning restaurant well in advance of your holiday, to avoid disappointment, serving lunches and evening meals.
The Old School
One of the best restaurants in the area, a varied menu of good food, a welcoming atmosphere and an open fire makes this restaurant worth a visit.
The Dunvegan Hotel
This is our nearest pub, serving bar snacks and meals.
.Other places to eat out in Dunvegan include The Castle restaurant, The Tables Hotel, The Atholl Hotel, The Misty Isles Hotel and the Bakery. There are many more restaurants and cafes on the island, no matter where the day takes you, you can always find somewhere nice to eat out

Kelpie Cottage offers a beautiful well-equipped kitchen, for those cosy nights in. Local food means just that, one of my sons , Keith lives 7 mile away at Orbost. He has his own meat processing unit where he grows his meat slowly on Orbost Estate, process's it himself and offers it for sale at Orbost farm.Appearing in the BBC2 programme, Monty Halls' Great Escape, He offers his meat for sale at the farm On sale are sausages, burgers and bacon, wild bore, local venison, highland beef and mutton some of the finest, freshest meat in the country, you will not taste better anywhere.
Fresh eggs are available at many crofts locally; these are the true meaning of free range. Also home made jams, jellies and preserves can be bought in my craft shop. There is a bakery in Dunvegan for fresh bread and cakes. The Fruit and Nut shop, also in Dunvegan sells a huge variety of fresh vegetables and also a good stock of vegetarian foods.Our local post office also sells a good range of fresh food, bread and millk only 2 miles away.
