It was our third visit to Kelpie February/March this year. Although we were extremely disappointed not to see Linda on this occasion, thanks to her neighbour Debbie who had stepped in to help Linda out, the cottage was still very welcoming after traveling overnight from Surrey, England. We really can’t recommend Kelpie Cottage enough to anyone who has never stayed. Linda we wish you a speedy recovery. Gill & Paul. xx

Kelpie Cottage
One of the best self catering cottages we have ever stayed in. Best location also. The views and walks are incredible. We didn't take the car out once in the whole week we were there. Saw the golden eagles four times as well as lots of other birds. Also managed a sighting of the dolphins at Neist Point. Last but not least what a wonderful, helpful host Linda is. Will remember our evening collecting drift wood with great effection. And Tess what a lovely dog will miss her lots.

Our second visit to Kelpie - Feb 2020
We've just spent a wonderful relaxing time at Kelpie cottage (our last visit being in November 2018) It was lovely to spend time with Linda & gorgeous Tess again. This visit, there was a treat in store as four lambs have arrived early. Although the weather has been a bit hit & miss, it certainly didn't stop us getting out & about, the landscape at times has had a covering of snow which in contrast with blue skies make lovely photographic memories. Linda is very knowledgeable regards places to visit & her hospitality is second to none, she's also a very talented crafter, so be sure to pop into her shop for a memento. The cottage Is a real home from home & we look forward to returning in the future. Linda we wish you all the very best for the rest of the year. With Love Gill & Paul.

Kelpie in November
I stayed at Kelpie in early November 2019, just by myself, to explore this spectacular but often neglected part of Skye and enjoy some walking and photography. Having rented many, many cottages throughout Scotland over the years, this is definitely one I would return to time and time again. I might need to book ahead though, as it is bound to become ever more popular as its reputation grows. This is partly down to the high standard of accommodation, with lots of personal touches and everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Linda is an exceptionally welcoming and friendly host, who will always be around if you want a friendly chat or advice, but who will also give you plenty of space if you want to do your own thing. She was completely unphased by my early morning ( 4.30 a.m.) starts to photograph the stars and the lighthouse at night, and indeed was interested to see the results of my endeavours. She is also a very accomplished artist, and it was great to be able to pop into her studio next to the cottage and learn about her latest creations. And as for Tess, her faithful and hard working bearded sheepdog, well she became a real friend during the week and it was so sad to have to say goodbye. Overall, Kelpie makes a great base for exploring the western side of Skye, and I would particularly recommend going off-season, when the weather can be surprisingly good and the roads are less busy. There are lots of interesting places to visit within easy walking distance, and in fact I managed without a car all week. I returned with lots of happy memories of the ever-changing light, and the genuine warmth of local people, including Linda's friends and neighbours.
